ENTJ Relationships

ENTJs have a difficult time with relationships. This is because ENTJs have very high standards for their relationships. As a result, love for them can be a bit more complicated than it is for others. ENTJs tend to have a list of must-haves for a partner and conduct their first dates more like an interview. In this article we’ll detail how ENTJs approach flirting, dating, and love and what makes it so difficult.

ENTJs Have High Standards

First, the number one reason that it’s difficult to date ENTJs is that they have really high standards for themselves and, thus, for others as well. This includes friends, company they keep, people that they date, and obviously who they would want to marry. ENTJs are growth-minded, goal oriented, and know the value of their time. So, they’re careful about not wasting it on someone that doesn’t measure up to their standards. If they don’t spend a lot of time with you, it’s because they’re working on their goals, and that’s okay for a secure partner that has plenty going on for themselves.

Next, ENTJs want to see that their relationship with you is bringing value to you and to them. They want to succeed, and they also want to help other people succeed. Ultimately, they’re value-oriented. So, they want to see that a relationship with somebody is worthwhile and is also going somewhere because they’re looking into the future. They’re very careful with planning for their future. They want to make sure that a person can fit into their plan for the future, and that they can fit into that person’s plan for their future.

ENTJs Don’t Waste Time

ENTJs want someone who also is growth-oriented and success-driven. They want somebody that’s going to build them up and not only be able to keep up with them, but to challenge them as well. That can make it seem like the ENTJ thinks they’re too good for everyone, but that’s really not the case. They just know what they want and they go after it. So, ENTJs filter through what they don’t want efficiently and don’t waste anyone’s time, including their own. They don’t like laziness. ENTJs are people who make things happen, and they also want to see that you’re someone who makes things happen. They’re going places, and they have a solid plan. If you can’t fit into that plan, then you’re out for them. Overall, the best case scenario is someone who can help them succeed and reach their goals as well.

ENTJs are extremely selective when it comes to dating. They approach dating systematically and can have trouble with emotional expression. So, dating an ENTJ can be a bit complicated when compared to other personality types. ENTJs Can Be Intimidating

Additionally, people have a hard time dating ENTJs because they’re intimidated by them. ENTJs really don’t mean to intimidate anyone but their manner is super direct, they know what they want, and they’re efficient. ENTJs hate wishy-washy. They’re firm in their convictions and in the way that things should be done, so they’re not going to say, “I don’t know, man. How do you want to do it?” They’ve already thought this out and don’t see the point in considering how others feelings would factor into something.

ENTJs Aren’t For The Weak

They can also be intimidating because ENTJs make weaker people painfully aware of their weaknesses. If you’re insecure, you stand in contrast to a person who is commanding and certain of themselves. So, a relationship with an ENTJ is not for someone who struggles with a lot of insecurities. Simply, they need people who are strong, have a good sense of self, know what they think, and aren’t going to get easily offended.

ENTJs Aren’t Villians

Finally, jealousy of the power of the ENTJ can be responsible for why they are vilified in traditional Hallmark movies. People don’t understand that it’s not that they don’t value you or they don’t have their values in the right place; it’s just that they’re certain of their values, and they have a strong way of going about achieving their goals. They want to be better, and they want to make other people better. The truth hurts sometimes, and ENTJs are here to tell it. They’re respectful people. They don’t mean to hurt anybody’s feelings. However, they can easily offend accidentally or not really worry that they did offend someone.
